Unit 9: The weather !!!

The weather is a very popular topic of conversations in Britain. 56% of all the days in Britain are overcast- dull grey and often cold.
When the weather is good, people complain that it's too wet. When it isn't sunny, they say it's too cold.
In winter it's cold and wet but doesn't often snow. Spring is from March to May. The summer months are June, July and August, when it can be very hot.
Scientist at the Met Office makes weather forecasts fro the public and for special purposes- militars, shipping, arlines and manny others.

Unit 8: Reading !!!

British people read a lot. They read books, newspaper and of course they read text message on mobile phone. 65% of British people lies reading as a mejors hobby. And in libraries people borrow books, CDs, DVDs of films and television progames and some libraries even let you borrow computer games.
Libraries are very important in schools and universities both for study and for reading por pleasure.

Unit 7: British sports !!!

Even more people spend part of the weekend watching sport, specially football. From August to April footvall is everywhere.
The top level of the game progessional football in the Premiership. We went to training session with a Premiership team from South East London, Charlton Athletic.
Cricket is the main summer sport in Britain. Local teams play in towns and villages every saturdayand Sunday from April to September.

Tennis is another popular sport, specially in the summer after the famous Wimbledon Championships. There are tennis courts all over Britain.
Other populas sports is golf, swimming, cycling, keep fit and walking.

Unit 6: Animals!!!

People love animals. But some world's animals are in danger of extinction. There are serveral reasons for this. But the most serious threat to animals is from man.
In some parts of the world people collect hino horn for use in medicine. Shark's fin soup, chimpanzee and whale meat are popular with some people too.
Another big problem is the destruction of the rainforest. The Worldwide Fund for Nature is an international organization. It looks at all aspects of conservation including animals, plants, forestry and control of pollution.
There are a number of projects in Britain wich deal with endangered species.

Unit 5: British houses!!!

90% of the population live in towns. There are a lots of different kinds of houses. Terraced houses are joined together, sometimes in a long row. There are detached houses it means there aren't any other houses joined on to them. lots of people live in flats, especially in big towns and cities. Houses in different part of Britain can look very different. Some houses are very modern and some are hundreds of years old. These are traditional thatched cottages. Thatch is made from reeds and is used for the roof. Cottage is the name for a small house in the country.

Unit 4: Shopping!!!!!!!!

Do you like shopping?

People in Britain really like shopping. In a recent survey 56% of women between 16 and 40 described shopping as their main hobby.
Many towns have a large shop where you can buy a wide variety of items.
People don't only do their shopping in the towns. There are a lot of big out-of-town shopping centers where there are many shops in a large indoor area.
Bluewater near London, it's the largest shopping complex in Europe with over 330 different shops and three big department stores. There are also 40 bars and restaurants and thirteen-screen cinema.

Unit 3: The school in Britain!!!

For most students in Britain, the school day starts between eight thirty and nine o'clock. They cycle, they walk and they go to school in cars.

Sarah catches the school bus. Each lesson lasts for an hour. At end of the lesson bell rings. After two or three lessons there is a break. This is fifteen minutes when students go out into the playground to have fun after all that concentration. After lunch it's back to the classroom. The final bell goes at three thirty to mark the end of school. Students have homework everyday. This can be from one to three hours of schoolwork at home in the evening.

Unit 2: Food in Britain!!!


Most schools in Britain provide hot meals and salads every day but many students prefer to take their own lunch to school. This is a "packet lunch".
Sarah's dad makes her packet lunch every morning before she goes to school.
Sarah eat lunch with friends in the school cafeteria. Sarah's lunch is healthy.


A lot of chocolate, crisps, fatty foods and cola aren't good for people. The Government is worried that many children are obese. One school in England helps students to eat healthy whit the Green Machine.

Unit 1: The royal family!!!



Great Britain has got a Royal Family. The name of Royal Family is Windsor.
The queen of England is Elisabeth the second. Her husband's name is the Duke of Edinburgh and they have got four children. Queen Elisabeth II lives with her husband in the Buckingham Palace in London.

Prince William and prince Harry are the queen's grandchildren.
William was born in 1982 and Harry in 1984.




In 1987 the English Royal Family were in Mallorca with Spanish Royal Family.
